What are the eligibility requirements?

To become a contestant, you must:

  • Have a birth year between 1996 and 2006 for Miss contestants 2023
  • Have a birth year between 2006 and 2010 for Teen contestants 2023
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Meet residency requirements: live, go to school, or work in the state of Iowa
  • Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Opportunity
  • Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements
  • Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local, state, and national competition(s) in which you compete
  • Not be a contestant, titleholder, or representative of a competing program to the Miss America and Miss America’s Teen programs

What do you win if you get a title?

The amount of scholarships we give to our titleholders is determined by the amount of money brought in by our board and our contestants.

Where is the event being held?

The event will be held at the DeWitt Fine Arts Center inside of DeWitt Central High School (DeWitt, IA).

How much money will the program cost me as a contestant?

There is a basic fee for the participation. From that point, it is up to the candidates. Candidates can pay for the most expensive ball gowns, or simply shop at a second-hand store. The members of the board will work with you to find outfits that are both appropriate and in your price range. What are the age ranges for Teen and Miss?

Teen is for contestants with a birth year between 2006 and 2010, and Miss is for contestants with a birth year between 1996 and 2006. However, if you are unsure of what position you should be running for, reach out to us on the Contact Us page.
